MSNBC - A Heroic Life
The power of emotion never fails to amaze me. Why would a person leave a 3.8 million contact and the access to Rangers cheerleaders to walk into war? Is it patriotism or is it philanthropy (well he wanted to help the Afghans)? Any case I think he is an outstanding and unique individual but the sad part he is no more. As a society we should be ashamed that we are losing valuable lives over war. 5000 years of history, trips to mars, technology to splice genes (boy we have smart people in this world) but we cannot resolve conflicts by sitting at a table and talking and this applies to both sides of the table. I think there are too many divisions in this world and have to unite. The only way to do that is to create a common threat a threat that encircles the whole human race. Hey may be we can tell the world that giant spiders are taking over the world or there are aliens on mars that want to kick our ass and said mean things about Allah etc. I'm sure the media can create and hype these issues, after all they convinced some of us to watch Anna Nicole Smith (If they can do that they are omnipotent), and the whole world would be pissed at mars. We might have a few rednecks trying to shoot at mars using a binoculars or a couple of jihads trying to blow it up but it would be harmless fun. I think we are spending too many resources and too much time fighting against each other; this is the time to create a common enemy and divert our anger towards it or them. To all the sane people who thought this blog was stupid - I know some of this does not make sense but I was upset that a good man had to die for an unworthy cause and some of the points are decent enough to be given a thought.

BBC NEWS | South Asia | Farmers tackle pests with colas
I find this ironical and creative as well. Can you imagine the plight of the cola marketing team? With problems in the past (http://www.tribuneindia.com/2003/20030806/main3.htm) these guys might be at a loss of words finally. I might come across as being a little sadistic but corporate responsibility is very important now-a-days. If you look at a typical cola advertisement the people drinking these colas are surrounded by cool people and everything is rosy. What would a 7 year make of this? Well it is the cola that is driving the situation which is incorrect. Coke was never a part of creating a euphoric scenario for me (may be when mixed with rum) so these companies are creating a wrong image. Why did I write this blog, I don't know. In fact I don't really care what these companies do but I wanted to blog the article which was kind of cool. I definitely hope that there are a few of you who actually care and to them Kudos, you have principles but you will not make it big in this world.
Peace

India's respite from accidents thanks to god of machines: rail minister, Weird : News : News
India's respite from accidents thanks to god of machines: rail minister, Weird : News : News
It took me a long time to blog this because I was dazed at the decisions made - Laloo in charge of Indian railways. I'm a practical person and understand the political perspective of this decision but why railways. Any impact on IR (Indian railways) would affect the working class of India. We could have given him sports (I mean he cannot bring the Indian sports teams down because we are at the rock bottom, come on Ganguly and his inspirational speeches make me weep - in shame) or foreign investments. We have a socialist party in place and they will try to implement the will of Nehru (A Hindi speaking socialist nation) but wait we cannot be socialist because
1.We have a billion people
2.Only 24 million pay income taxes
NRI's are not stupid that is the reason they left India (can also be referred to as Nehru co.) and will not invest money into India as long as we have Idiots in the Indian government. I have a lot of faith in Manmohan Singh's intelligence but higher confidence in the ability of the other party members' ability to manipulate him. The worst part of it is that the Congress party stated that Laloo was the best choice for the job implying - there is nobody else in India who could do better than Laloo (you got to be kidding me and if it is true "God save us all). So this is my plea to the king makers in India you may take away our money, abuse our faith, threaten our future and sell out our country but please don't insult our intelligence. The Indian people forgive and forget (look at all the scandals) please give enough respect and tell us the truth. If there is a single ounce of integrity left in the Indian political population go ahead tell us that you are power hungry and you have to give Laloo the job. We don't care and even if we do there is nothing we can do about it. I'm sure you can derive pleasure out looking at our insignificant existence and helplessness but please tell us the truth.

FOXNews.com - You Decide 2004 - Kerry Calls Bush to Concede
I'm happy the way this election ended and I'm not referring to the end result. I'm bi-partisan and a misanthrope. I was really scared that this election could get ugly and get drawn out like the last one. Like most Americans I'm very materialistic too and I want instantaneous results. I don’t have a problem with neither Bush nor Kerry because I have a brilliant defense mechanism. My existence is so insignificant that public policy would not hurt my daily routine. I mean look at the whole scenario, a change in the leadership would not have brought phenomenally different ideas to the table. The bottom line is that we fucked up and we will try our best to cover up. On a personal basis I prefer to stay at home watching old reruns of Roseanne than go out and vote. You may ask me why, well it is the same old story but a different body. The elections are held only because of the strong lobby of the voting machine manufacturers and balloon makers. So Ohio you would not be in the front page of the NY times until 2008, until then happy living and peace to all.

MSNBC - Christian rock spreads election-year gospel
MSNBC - Christian rock spreads election-year gospel
Sweet Jesus! What has the world come to? What is with these people trying to spread the good word? All the preaching I think is against the primary concept of god. My perception is that God is Omnipotent; hence if he wants us to learn about something he does not need jeans clad musicians to spread his word. More over these people have to be thinking twice about using Jesus to spread the message "Go out and vote!". The bible talks about the kingdom of God and that is not promoting democracy, it is basically a monarchy. I think we in general over hype Democracy because masses are not as smart we think they are. Infect the majority of us are basically concerned about getting a decent paycheck and getting some. So we don't really care who is up there and now-a-days the choices available are so bad, it does not matter who we pick. So basically it is just like having a king, we have a bad king we take shit and good ones can make our lives better. Now monarchy has been time tested while democracy is just 300 years old and it hasn't done outstandingly well either. I'm not against democracy but all I'm asking of you readers is "please think", don't let people tell what the word of god is because we were made in god's own image and we can think like him; Think and act smart.
Peace

BBC NEWS World Africa S Africans 'armed to the hilt'
What the f**k is the problem with people now-a-days. I'm sick of this macho shit, 5'3" beer bellied, bespectacled, half bald accountants driving pick up trucks or buying guns to look macho. As Chris Tucker says "It's not guns that kill people it is stupid motherf**kers that do" and I think this statement holds a lot of truth. I think the general public of a country should have faith in the Police system and the army. I'm not discouraging buying guns for hunting etc.. but don't let the public buy weapons for what they call self defense. I'm sure there were situations where guns have helped save lives but the cons outrageously outweigh the pros. South Africa has racial problems, lots of gold mines and the british; so what do we have to add to the equation, well I don't know GUNS!!!!. Come on a minor outburst can lead to a violent outbreak and dumb f**ks with guns will definitely help the situation. At work there we had a guy who had bought 3 guns right at the start of the Iraqi war. So I asked him why and he replies "Well if any of the Taliban comes to my house I will blow their heads off". I was amazed by this guy's IQ and was scared the next instant. I tried to reason with him saying that "well if the Taliban (in the first place are not from Iraq) manage to beat the American Navy, Air force (with all those bombers), the army and above all the marines - you think you can use your $300 gun to kill them? You must be dreaming". Well my logic failed to have any impact on him but the discussion had a tremendous impact on me. Till then I thought guns were cool to have but then on changed my mind. I think the government should make it a point to test the person's IQ level before selling him or her a gun.

BBC NEWS | World | Middle East | Iraq group 'seizes Japan citizen'
There is so much violence in the world that sometimes I tend to think that we humans cannot get along but a very strange incident changed my mind. I'm not the kind of a guy who reads heroic stories of kids making it big or winning a race and gets inspired. I believe in the concept of Karma but experienced it today. A few days ago I was driving back home from work during rush hour and I had to hit the brakes because of the traffic in front of me. The person driving behind me rear-ended my car and I pulled over to check the damage. There was a scratch on my rear fender but for some unfathomable reason I looked the driver, smiled and said it was okay. The girl (the driver) was amazed when I made this comment. Today I was running a little late and the parking at my work place is horrendous. I saw a parking spot but a car was next to it getting ready to park. All of a sudden the accident chick pops out waves me over insists that I take the spot. It was a life saver and I guess that is Karma. I'm not a saint but I can safely say that I have never screwed a person on purpose. I guess that's actually more than enough to make this world a much better place to live in (well skimpier outfits on women and cheaper would definitely help too).

Forbes.com: Most Expensive Homes In America 2004
Forbes.com: Most Expensive Homes In America 2004
I'm very sure that all you have had been told in your childhood that be righteous and you will be successful in life blah blah etc. Now greed is a bad thing but having money is not bad a lot of people have this misconception that money is bad. Hey money is paper; it is the person that is bad. Well I have always felt that I haven't had an incentive to be rightful in my life, I mean the little guy with horns, on my shoulder had an overwhelming impact on my actions. As a true American I have decided to shift the blame of my non-righteousness (if that is a word) on to somebody else. This time it is the society. I have come with an innovative idea, how about we trash the concept of money and it power to purchase and come up with a goodness point system. This system would work exactly like money but you are awarded points instead of cash but you accumulate these points based on you being good. This would prompt people to be nicer and I would be dirt poor (well the present system isn't working for me either). This is a rough idea and not paying attention to the finer details wouldn't it justify our society and religions. I mean the good guys would actually be rich. If you think this is a stupid idea that’s okay but you atleast should give it a little bit of consideration, if you cannot get yourself to do that you should talk to my Jamaican neighbor (I'm sure you would definitely like the idea then, oh yeah and watch Harold and Kumar go to white castle, it is so funny).

BBC NEWS | UK | Video shows kidnapped aid worker
I believe that these people don't have a right to live not because they are fighting for a cause (If I can safely say that) but because of their stupidity. Margaret Hassan is married to an Iraqi and has been living in Iraq for the last 30 years. She has already voiced her opposition against the war and moreover this is not the first case where Iraqi sympathizers have been kidnapped. In a way we can assume that the terrorists are in trouble because their new hires are really stupid, I mean they make Bush look like Einstein. Why does this always happen, there is a movement that starts spurred by a true cause and then somehow or the other morons take over. This theory is true to almost every country in the world. Is it because we have so many stupid people walking around not knowing that they are stupid? Or is it that we have a tendency to support dumbasses? I don't know the answer because I'm not that bright and I think it is a safe assumption because - "who is worse than a moron, a moron who thinks he/she is smart".

I have an enormous respect for the American media and their part in acting as a control in a number of issues but they seem to have limited information about the "rest of the world". Veerappan did not help poor people, he was a smuggler and at one point I was fascinated with his ability to elude the authorities. Secondly who the f**k (want to keep this blog PG 13) is Rajkumar and I'm very positive that he is not one of the biggest stars in India. He might be a popular actor in Karnataka but ironically even the Kannadigas don't watch Kannada movies. Now a pick-up driving, steak eating farmer from Southern Indiana would have a wrong opinion about veerappan (Although his/her opinion hardly matters to the world except in the presidential elections - I feel for you man). It is very critical for well renowned news channels like CNN to be careful how they paint the picture because we the readers trust them. Hence unless it is related to Darfur, because nobody knows what going on there (maybe a few do but they don't have oil and we don't care about their stupid wildlife - I have seen it on discovery channel) the media is our eyes and ears they have the responsibility to show the right picture.

BBC NEWS | Programmes | From Our Own Correspondent | Dark humour for dark times
I'm a very difficult person to please if it does involve stripping but this article has caught my attention. The Moslem world is coming out and interacting with the rest of the world on a social level. There is no question that Humor along with stupidity is a common factor among humans and a few other species (We cannot exclude Jackson) and it is the best way to connect to the rest of the world. I was a little pissed because in the present times non-Moslems are always told to better understand the Moslem culture (sorry if I'm grouping Moslems culturally but you have to give me that, I'm from the hood) but there was hardly any talk about Moslems trying to understand the rest of the world better. I'm not planning to participate in the MS Universe competition next year but I guess I can still want "World Peace". It is very critical that we get along better and look beyond our differences cultural or religious because we have to remember that before everything we are "Human". I'm an optimist, always look at the glass and think well I still have shot of rum left and truly hope that all of us get along (If not I can still move to Canada).

The REAL O'Reilly factor: His ego
The REAL O'Reilly factor: His ego
The spin did not stop with his show. I don't care about people's fantasies because everyone is entitled to them but people like O'Reilly lambaste others for having the same fantasies. What is it that drives people to do this, strangely I sympathize with this guy, and he must have felt guilty through the best years of his life. Well I'm sure President Bush can bless him and relieve him of all his sins. I have no problem with Bill's views but his crudeness in representing them on other people is what makes me mad. There is a vicious trend out there that you have to be either conservative or liberal, you can't be yourself. I like to have my opinions and don't care whether they are left or right wing. All said and done I'm human too so I would love to see this guy go down in flames and watch the drama. More over I'm sick of the Bush and Kerry jokes and this would be a welcome break.

The Hindu : Front Page : Congress-NCP retains Maharashtra
The Hindu : Front Page : Congress-NCP retains Maharashtra
The elections in Maharashtra have presented us with a paradox. Do we choose the radical right wing Shiva Sena or the septuagenarian monarchy (Congress)? People have very limited choice and with more than one billion people I think we, Indians deserve a party that is more understanding of our needs than the two we have. I'm a religious person and have great pride in Hinduism but I have a problem with the way it is represented by Shiva Sena/BJP. Hindus are very tolerant people and I hope that we are not mis-understood by the actions of a few hence the defeat of BJP is good in a sense. Again the Congress party is a monarchy and I'm sick of the Nehru family. Nehru did not have the vision to drive India into the future, how did he think that we could have a socialist government with such a huge population. I understand that we were aiming to be like Western Europe but we are too many to that and in the process we have created a highly corrupted bureaucracy. This is my opinion on elections - they are a waste of time, look at the choices and all of you hard core democracy propagators shut up, we have been voting and understand the cost of freedom but what good has it got us? Let’s not waste money on elections, instead let the candidates bear the cost of elections and yes I know the ever irritating arguments - How can a poor man run? Reality check, there are no poor people running even now. I would rather have one fourth of the money spent on education or feeding people (assuming the officials are satisfied with pocketing three fourth of the sum).

Benchmark
I have very few skills but I pride myself in being able to defend my lamest mistakes. This is partly an inborn talent and the rest is through experience. I mean if you fuck up bad and you want to know where you stand in the world's biggest screw up's, I'm the man you need to talk to. I will alleviate your misery by telling you some of stupid things I have done and trust you will feel better. I'm serious, I can make Bush feel better about Iraq or Clinton better about Hillary (I know enough of the Clinton’s). Look at a human's performance objectively, it is never how we do, it is always how we did in relation to somebody else. So all these freakin smart kids not only get the money and the girls, they make life harder for people like you (If it took you more than 15 minutes to read till then-reader=you) and me. Well apart from the intense hatred of these hardworking and smart snobs, we have a very important purpose in this world. I think, unfortunately, the world needs these smart kids to innovate and make my easier but what would inspire these people. Vanity! The devil's favorite sin; money, power, beauty etc... All of these serve the primary purpose of vanity. So we the under-performers of the world serve as the low end benchmark for the smart kids to feel smart. You would feel good about scoring a 100 on an exam but would not feel much better if you were the only one? Voila. That is the reason you have to allow people like us to exist and breed. A lot of you still might think that we are in-consequential, well I don't really care and you don't have the balls to confront me because you have too much to lose whilst I have lost everything.
Ms.America
There is a lot furor about the new more revealing bikini contest in the Miss America pageant. This is what irritates me, the media in general likes to publish articles that challenge our basic intelligence levels. We know that there is more skin being shown on these contests but that is what we want. Why do they keep attaching this minute little aspect called intelligence? I'm sure these girls are very smart and can make convincing points but I don't really know because I'm busy looking at them. I mean if I wanted an educated conversation I would talk to my geeky looking economics professor. There are two issues here that need to be addressed; 1. Don’t attach beauty and brains, we are not really interested. More it is not wrong to be good looking and dumb. You can be good looking/dumb and get a lot done. The premise of living this life to have fun and these gorgeous women do this with out a problem. Well there is an exception to this rule, dubya is not so handsome or smart but he still gets to fly on Airforce one.2. Why is there is a bias between Miss America and Mr. America? Nobody is talking about the shrinking size of men’s underwear in the contests and I'm sick of seeing these muscular men being viewed as objects. Why are not asked questions like "what do you want" and if they are, I have never heard their response on popular T.V. stations?Well I understand there is bias and I'm willing to take the blame. I would not mind being called a materialist, shallow individual or whatever because I can't comprehend what you are saying-I'm staring at Ms.Utah (I mean come on guys you have to check her out; not to be biased this invitation extends to all those lesbo chicks who are competing with us)
Detroit and cars
was reading an article on CNN today which stated a prominent management consulting firm's findings that Detroit is the most expensive place to own a car. I have lived in Detroit for quite a bit, so I'm pissed not because having a car was expensive but because I'm broke and might as well blame the city for it. Detroit is a dying industrial city with huge economic disparities in the population. So you either a drive a Mercedes in Detroit which case you don’t really give a fuck about the cost/insurance or you are so broke that you don't have car. But hey there is a minor problem here, apparently Ford motor company and Firestone (yeah the same company that supplied defective tires for Ford SUV's but that's okay with me because I'm not crazy about SUV drivers) own all the rights for Detroit rail routes. You must be thinking "I saw eminem in a bus in 8 mile", nope that was probably a luxury tour bus with a 62" T.V and a bathroom bigger than bedroom. Cameramen can work magic, I mean come on they make MJ look human. The only reason you get on a bus in Detroit is to buy weed and people have even stopped doing that because it is not safe for potheads to ride in buses. Michigan has a democrat governor who is supposed to be liberal but I haven't seen any positive changes in the city. In the end we all have to realize that we will get fucked by our leaders; I suppose the impact ripples down the various strata of society and all you can do is hope that you are at the bottom of the barrel because then you would have to just screw the tap (that would really suck).
Bangladeshi Kids
I'm not exactly a fan of Carl Rowe or Rush Limbaugh but I'm sick of these liberals (especially the ones that are ignorant) bashing companies exploiting child labor in under developed countries. I definitely believe that kids should be at school studying or playing but again reality check the world is not United States. It is absolutely acceptable for a beauty pageant or a cute high school kid to protest these issues and not buy items manufactured by the company. What really surprises me is that there are a number of students in graduate school who use the same argument. Let's take a look at the actual picture in Bangladesh - Kids are starving to death and apparently education is not their first priority. If by popular resistance we manage to convince the companies stick to fair labor standards, the kids would still be working in a different place and probably in much worse conditions. A feasible solution would be to have the kids work during the day and attend mandatory school in the afternoon. This would provide a motive for parents to send their children to school and the kids to study. So all you liberals when you wield your power please use it in a practical fashion. In the end this is what I feel that we are just slaves to the system. This system supports the powerful because it has been built by the powerful and in this case power has variable definitions depending on the time period. The real reason why we want the Bangladeshi Kids to study is not because we love them but we don't want them to become terrorists in the future. Give them enough to live and be reasonable but don't give them too much, if not how will Wal-Mart sell me a shirt for $5.00.
Laundry
I had to do laundry today. I hated doing laundry in the past but very soon understood the importance of wearing clean and fresh smelling clothes. The Laundromat is a very enterprising place to socialize. I mean where you can meet a girl who had nothing to do for an hour. This vaguely reminds of the "dead milk men" song (don't feel outdated if you have never heard of this band, I have an unusual taste in music) where the lead singer tries to peek at a college girl laundry. The possibility of successfully interacting with a girl increases ten fold because Laundromat users are usually single and borderline broke. From my perspective this is a wonderful opportunity to date a girl with out spending a fortune. It is very critical that you hide your old Levis jeans and make sure your Armani’s and Versace’s are visible. In a materialistic society clothing is the one of the key elements of displaying your success and taste. Well this trip was not fruitful but I had to chance to interact with my own kind the "broke and single" people from my town.

US arms for Pakistan spell trouble for India - The Times of India
US arms for Pakistan spell trouble for India - The Times of India
I'm sick and tired of the news media trying to interpret politics in the Indian Sub-continent. The headline in the times indicated that India should be wary of the arsenal being acquired by Pakistan from America. If TOI is doing this to gain news popularity that is absolutely acceptable by me, in spite of the moral aspects. These headlines don't reflect the opinion of most Indians though. We don't care if the paki's have nukes or advanced planes because we are not interested in attacking them. I would assume that the Pakistanis are not stupid to attack India (Although stupidity seems to be a common element). So to the editors here is what we (middle class Indians) are thinking, how to pay my bills, can I get a better job and when the fuck will these stupid papers actually reflect the opinion of the majority rather than subscribing to the extremes. One might ponder how one person can represent 800 million people. It is simple, we have limited wants and we don't really care about politics and our primary focus is survival. These aspects are universal, not just limited to Asia, so media pundits - please pay some attention to us.
