Civil Services - Competitive Exams - Education in India

Civil Services - Competitive Exams - Education in India

I think interviews in general are a farce because we cannot judge a person in an hour but I'm willing to play along with the system because I need a job. What irritates me the most is the frills involved in the process of attending interviews? We have to dress up for the interview and present the best face but isn't that being hypocritical. Then there is the actual interview phase. I think most interviewers lack any form of creativity. "Tell me about yourself", "Tell me about a situation where you were a leader" etc etc, how original are these questions? Can't they come up with something that will actually make me feel better about the tedious process? Now the UPSC is notorious for its interviews and most of you must have the question that was asked in an interview "What would you say if I said you mother is a whore" and the interviewee answered "My father is the only customer". It absolutely makes no sense because in general the candidates are interviewing to become puppets within the bureaucracy. We don't smart mouths in the Indian Civil service because we have Renuka Chowdary and Laloo for the job. I think the interviewee's are partly responsible for the crudeness of the process. We should stand up to interviewers and let them know that it is mutual. Well what I'm suggesting is not revolutionary, in fact it is equality. So lets all do this in unison to make this world a better place for job seekers unless you are like me (Under qualified dumb kid with loads of bad luck) in which case Kissing ass in the only option.
